The Flatiron Building was completed in 1902, at it’s time one of the tallest buildings in New York City. It was named after the land used for its construction, “The Flatiron block”, due to the shape of the section.

In January 2009 an Italian investment firm purchased a majority stake in the building. There are plans to convert from it’s current use as an office building,  to a world class luxury hotel. The buildings estimated worth is $190 million.
