Penguin Store, SoHo

A few weeks back, a friend invited me to photograph a party at the Original Penguin store in SoHo. I rented a 50mm f/1.4 lens for the weekend and went on down. This was my first paid gig, so it was very exciting and I learned a lot from the experience.

This was my first time visiting the store and it was actually very cool. They had a big-name DJ for the event and an open bar (aaaaw yeah) and they even had a dance floor! They sell a lot of bright, casual summer wear and I picked up a few things for myself before I left. My girlfriend was very impressed with my new wardrobe! This is mostly because she actually picked it out for me. I was too busy taking photos!

I definitely recommend you get on down there to check out what they have to offer, and check out their website for future events as they do them regularly around NYC. I will post a couple more pictures from the event soon.

Nice work- a real shift from your usual work, and nice to see you venturing in to some portraiture… It comes off well- maybe that open bar helped your creativity!
