What is HDR?

HDR stands for High Dynamic Range. Is it a style of photography that allows for an image to display a greater spectrum of luminances, from the darkest of darks to the lightest of lights. This greater visual display of color is achieved by taking several photos of the same scene at different lighting levels (usually a dark, normal, and bright photo) and then merging these with one of many different HDR merging software programs. The resulting image is usually then taken in to a second and even a third photo editing software option for touching up.
